LEV Systems Servicing and Testing Overview

If you have had an LEV system installed you have already chosen to try to meet your legal obligation to reduce the risk of harm to your employees, but if you don't have it COSHH tested and regularly serviced then how can you ensure that you continue to meet this responsibility?

Your COSHH Testing Obligations

UK regulations state that you need to ensure that a Thorough Evaluation and Test of your LEV systems takes place at least once in every 14 month period - and in some cases it is more often than this. This test must be carried out by a 'competent person'. For more information about your COSHH testing responsibilities, please click here.

Regular LEV System servicing is also required

COSHH regulation 9 states that plant and equipment including engineering contols must be maintained:

  • In an efficient state
  • In efficient working order
  • In good repair
  • In a clean condition

Whilst a COSHH test can tell you how your system is currently performing, the way to keep it operating correctly and effectively is by regular servicing - we recommend quarterly in addition to the visual checks your team undertakes.
